Welcome to Lobart Instruments
Lobart Instruments has been providing technical and engineering service in industries and government contracts since 2013. Our prototype shop equipped with advanced CNC Machine Center and CNC Lathe to facilitate the feasibility test, computer Aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacture. CMM 3D inspection provides precision product and optical quality components.
Dr. Yan Gao graduated from the Ohio State University with Ph.D. degree in Engineering. Together with Dr. James Cambier Dr. Yan modified and improved developed a corneal topography for corneal laser surgery. As the staff scientist, he worked in algorithm of eye location and optical system of the computer vision for calculating the curvature of the cornea.
Dr. Gao developed a graphic interface for a high speed vision system for a X-ray inspection for Par Technology company. The X-ray inspection system is detecting small size food contaminate in bottle of jars for baby formula or baby food. He later helped iridian Technology developed iris recognition system in counter measures. As a security system, iris recognition has a much lower false reject rate and being used in airport and government contract for automatic entry door or gate access. He had also worked on FPGA to develop ASIC code for iris recognition algorithm for Panasonic mobile application.
He was leading a team to develop a multi-finger or palm identification recognition device for a sub-contract of government or DOD project of Osterhunt Design Group. The system has applied 6 cameras to build a potable fingerprint device. Computer vision algorithm was used to stitch six images into one to meet government standard in fingerprint recognition field.
He has also worked on laser range finder by using pulse laser under sampling technology for a precision distance measures.
Recently he is working on a wearable electro-retina graph or ERG, a medical device for diagnose eye related disease.
